His music has brought to life witches and war lords, monarchs and matadors. Next summer, San Francisco Opera celebrates the extraordinary breadth of Giuseppe Verdi.

Music Director Eun Sun Kim conducts a concert that recognizes the beginnings of her American journey: She made her U.S. debut with performances of Verdi’s Requiem and La Traviata.

Kim leads the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and the San Francisco Opera Chorus in a night of arias, duets, and orchestral and choral numbers, with three thrilling singers headlining the evening: Mexican tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz, Australian soprano Nicole Car, and American bass Soloman Howard.

“The Australian soprano Nicole Car brought fine-grained tone and nuanced acting… There was a light, linear quality to her singing.”
New York Times

“Other cast notables include Arturo Chacón-Cruz, that handsome young tenor whose voice gets more tenderly appealing and ear-caressing in it freshness each time we hear him"
L.A. Observed

“Throughout it all, [Eun Sun] Kim provided musical guidance that was firm but pliant, delicate yet strong-limbed. At every point, you could feel her giving the singers just what they needed to excel, without ever drawing focus onto her.”
San Francisco Chronicle
